a message from our founder

NICK NAGS
Thank you for finding your way to Wake Hui. We are always stoked to spread the love of watersports and the great outdoors!

Wake Hui was founded in 2016, with the purpose of providing a unique opportunity for kids to get out on the water to try something new in a supportive, safe, and fun environment. The ultimate goal is for our campers to leave knowing they accomplished something new using their own ability, dedication, and perseverance. We want them to take the excitement knowing they can accomplish goals they didn't think they were capable of, if they put their mind to it and never give up! They might have just landed their first jump, but to us it's so much more than that, it's the realization that they can do anything they want, leaving empowered to take on anything! Is that maybe a bit too lofty or ambitious??? Maybe...but that's how we operate! At the bare minimum we know they'll leave with a rad new set of skills, a group of new friends, a whole lot of self-esteem, and a big smile on their face!

In order for us to run an amazing camp experience, we hire people who share our beliefs and love the Muskoka lifestyle. Our staff are avid watersport enthusiasts, love the outdoors, and have a passion for inspiring the next generation!
All of our instructors are WSWC (Water Ski and Wakeboard Canada) certified coaches and have their Standard First Aid Certification with CPR & AED. In addition, they also complete a comprehensive Skill Development Training Program designed and delivered by myself. This training teaches them the step-by-step skill progression for cable wakeboarding, so they can customize individual plans for a safe progression. We also have specific staff designated to run and supervise all non-wakeboard activities. If campers want to make friendship bracelets, have a spike ball tournament, or play on the the Splash Island Inflatable Water Park, we have them covered. We have everything you need for an epic day in Muskoka, so campers can choose their own adventure!
All staff must complete our New Hire Training Program before working full time for us, with annual re-training sessions to make sure they're dialled in for the new season and are up to date on any operational changes that we are implementing. Through our camp specific training programs, we pride ourselves on not only being able to provide exceptional on-water coaching, but on our ability to create fun experiences off water. Our two, number one priorities, are fun and safety. We want our campers to have a blast and leave just like they came...only with a bigger smile!
I have been a certified instructor for both Watersports and Snowboarding for 10+ years and am a Course Facilitator for the WSWC Coaching Courses and part of the curriculum development team for the WSWC Foundations of Watersports Course and subsequent Build the Skills certification courses for WSWC. I have also re-written the Cable Instructors & Operators for WSWC. As a Course Facilitator, I run these certification courses each year to aspiring watersports coaches across Canada. Due to my extensive background, we have extremely qualified coaches to help guide your little ripper from getting up for their first time, landing their first jump, or training for the Canadian Championships.
As a 15+ year high school teacher, I also know the importance of meeting kids at their developmental stage to ensure they feel connected and supported. We have camp sessions for a wide range of ages and know that we have a team who can ensure and great experience day in and day out! Our staff are curators of fun for our campers and are able to create and support a wide variety of arts & crafts and beach games so everyone is included throughout the day.

If you are still listening to me, thanks! I could talk all day about what we have developed over the past 10+ years. I am immensely proud of the partnerships we have, our staff, and all of the amazing families that have chosen to join us over the years. The smiles that leave camp every week is the fuel that keeps us going.
We hope to see you in Muskoka!
