Wakeboard Instructor - Muskoka 2023

Date: June-August 2022

Location: Bush’s Watersports Park

Position Type: Seasonal/Contractural

Age Requirement: 16 years or older

Pay Structure: Hourly Rate, Paid Bi-weekly ($18/hour)

Availability: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm


Role Description:

The Cable Instructor will supervise, direct and oversee the instruction and experience of all participants while wakeboarding at all 2022 Muskoka Camp Programs. They will be responsible for managing all risk and ensuring the operation of a safe program, including all watersport specific activities. The Cable Instructor will collaborate with team members to provide fun and safe experiences that engage all participants to grow in the sport. The focus will be safe, fun progression for all riders, where individualized progression plans will take place to maximize the progress and fun of all campers! They will also oversee the care and use of the facilities, grounds and equipment of the cable park.


Skills Required:

  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of clientele, from kids aged 7-17 and adults/parents.

  • Interact and engage each camper in a friendly and timely manner.

  • Ability to work in a team to ensure all campers are ready to ride at the right time.

  • In-depth knowledge of wakeboarding skills and progression to provide specific coaching tips to campers.

  • Strong leadership skills necessary as it is the responsibility of the Instructor to create customized progress plans for campers and ensure riders are progressing in a safe manner.

  • Decision making and problem solving skills are important to troubleshoot issues that may arise throughout the day, making timely, effective decisions to ensure campers have fun and are safe while wakeboarding and progressing their riding.

  • Strong swimming skills as you will be required to enter the lake to support riders.

  • Enthusiasm to spread the stoke of wakeboarding to every camper!!!


Qualifications:

  • WSWO Instructors Course Certification - Foundations of Watersports Level 1

  • First Aid and CPR certification is an asset

  • Specific wakeboarding/watersports skills

  • Completion of the Wake Hui Training & Coaching Program (after successful completion of the above qualification and interview)
