Our diverse coaching staff will take you from your first time up, to your first flip, spin and win!!! Our instructors have been on the water since before they can remember (confirmed by parental accounts), are actively involved in the wake community, and compete at the provincial, national and international level.
Sup dudes! My name is Nick Nagribianko, but everyone just calls me “Nags.” When I’m not up at the cottage enjoying the sand, sun and wake, I live in Toronto, Ontario. I was lucky enough to call my family cottage my home for the summer months ever since I was born! My mother was an elementary school teacher and my father was a Director for Mercury Marine, so I got the best of both worlds. I had my summers off at the cottage and new boats and water toys to play with each year. My parents spent countless hours towing my brother and I, and all our cottage neighbours around the lake day in and day out. It was here that I fell in love with the outdoors and the water.
I attended Wilfrid Laurier University where I majored in Geography and Religion & Culture. During my time here, I was the head instructor for the WLU Kayakers Association and became passionate about sharing my knowledge and abilities with others. I continued my studies at University of Toronto (OISE) and became an Ontario Certified Teacher. When I’m not on the water, I’m a fulltime high school teacher in the city.
I instantly fell in love with wakeboarding and as my talents grew I entered my first competition. I landed on the podiumed and from there on out I was hooked! I’ve been competing at the regional, provincial and national level behind boat and cable ever since. I look forward to seeing you on the water this summer and can’t wait to spread the love!
What Wake Camp & Sunset Surf Sessions
You may best know Mickey from team “Mickey and Pete” on Season 2 of Amazing Race Canada. As they lived up to their motto of “long hair, don’t care” and “kill ‘em with kindness” they went on to win the season! Mickey also made it into the Guiness World Records in June 2016 by cable wakeboarding for 10 hours straight!
What many of you may not know is that Mickey is our resident Muskokan, as he calls this place home. His goal of spreading his love of watersports came to fruition three summers ago when What Wake Park officially opened in Bala, Ontario at Bush’s Watersports Complex. As the founder and owner - operator of What Wake Park, you can expect to find Mickey at the park throughout the summer.
Mickey has been a long time international wakeboarding competitor with many provincial and national titles. Not only does he have the experience to get you out of the water on your first day riding, but he can get you landing your first invert in style!
When Mickey isn’t at What Wake Park he can be found (like Where’s Waldo) travelling the world, making friends, and wreaking havoc in strange new lands. So come out to What Wake Park and see the unicorn that is Mickey Henry before he vanishes off to another far away land!
